Reports builder

The report builder at /reports/builder (breadcrumb Reports > Report Builder) is where reports get built: the authoring surface behind the Reports list. The page states the contract up front — pick a data source, add columns and filters, then preview live results — with a Back to Reports link for the way out.

  • Two actions headline the builder: Run preview and Save report. Preview before saving; a saved report nobody previewed is a guess with a share button.
  • The left pane holds the Data source picker (“Select a data source” shown unselected). Nothing builds until the source is chosen — the preview pane’s empty state says exactly that: “Select a data source to begin.”
  • The right pane is the Preview (“Run the query to see a preview of your report”). Build against the data source the decision needs, not the one that is easiest to chart.

  • Sharing is deliberate per report; Private is the default posture. A report shared too broadly becomes a second record people quote instead of the lists.
  • Repeatable cuts belong on saved views under Table Views. If the same builder session happens every week, the view should exist so the report does not need rebuilding.
  • Reports: the report list this builder feeds.
  • Table Views: the saved views behind repeatable cuts.
  • Objects: the object groups tenant data lives in.
